MTS "Park Live" 2019: VR/XR Live Streaming

2018-2019

As a creative director for LookPort.Live, I led the world’s first immersive 360-degree VR concert, setting a new standard in virtual reality entertainment. Managing both technical and creative challenges, I directed a 25-hour live stream that drew 4.5 million views, solidifying MTS’s reputation as a tech innovator.

Behind the scenes:

In 2018, I collaborated with LookPort founder Alex Wolf to bring a groundbreaking idea to life: a new form of immersive live-streaming for music. Our mission was simple yet ambitious: to create an XR concert experience that would push the boundaries of what audiences could feel and see.

At the heart of the project was our unique partnership with Mobile Tele Systems (MTS), a leading national brand whose core value is innovation. As MTS came on board as our key stakeholder and sponsor, we shared a common goal: to create something entirely new—something that aligned with their commitment to groundbreaking technology and new experiences. Their brand values were the driving force behind every creative decision we made, pushing us to innovate and redefine the live music experience.

The challenge was clear: traditional VR concerts often felt distant and disengaging, like security camera footage from the sidelines. We knew we had to rethink the entire filming process. After extensive testing and planning, we convinced stakeholders to embrace a radical approach. We placed 12 cameras (including 4 VR360) directly in the heart of the action, capturing the performance from angles never seen before.

We called it "teleportation"—a concept where audiences could virtually step into the concert and experience it as if they were on stage with the performers. This immersive 360-degree experience allowed fans to feel the energy of the show, all while staying true to MTS’s values of pushing the boundaries of technology and communication.

This innovation led to the world’s first immersive live VR|XR concert at the MTS VR Fest "Park Live" 2019, broadcasted to over 4.5 million people worldwide. With 25 hours of live streaming, 5 kilometers of wires, and stunning performances from artists like Jared Leto and 12 other European musicians, we delivered a concert experience like no other. Our unique camera setup not only elevated the VR concert experience but also set a new industry standard for immersive live events.

Key Achievements:

  • 4.5 million views online

  • 12 cameras, including 4 VR360

  • 25 hours of live broadcasting

  • MTS’s pioneering role in supporting innovative technology

  • World’s first immersive live VR concert

By collaborating with MTS, we not only pushed technological boundaries but also delivered on their commitment to innovation, creating something that had never been done before. This project was a testament to the power of creative vision and strategic brand alignment, where technology, art, and business came together to shape the future of live music.
